I say what I said in another thread: Milsim and RP are often the same. In milsim you assume the character of a soldier or other individual that you might not be in real life. You need to act and think accordingly, hence you roleplay that character. All the other aspects of making a game realistic al...

You need to act and think accordingly, hence you roleplay that character. All the other aspects of making a game realistic also involve RP. So, RP is m...

The reason we went offgame and drove off was because one of our pickups got broken into and one of our guys lost some pretty valuable equipment. He was absolutely heartbroken and out of respect for him we couldn't possibly continue the game. Oh, and I wouldn't say we dropped like flies. The orange f...

I didn't really mean it in a condescending way either. It's simply two sides of the hobby.

And of course, I believe we agree on all points. It'll be interesting to hear the opinions of others as well.

Re: Ingame mandates and airsoft player ethics.

It seems like we're having a trend where the experienced roleplayers versus the more mandate-bound milsim enthusiasts cannot find a proper ingame balance between different gameplay factors. To avoid confusion, it should rather be "milsim players versus speedball players". I believe, as I have said ...

GeG, You obviously don't care, or are too immature to care about the possible consequences for the hobby, a hobby that is already banned in some countries and severely restricted in others. You should stop and think instead of trying to argue for your losing case since you're only digging your grave...

§1.7 Berget games are not MILSIM, but they are airsoft action games with some elements of milsim and LARP. Whit that in mind i must say I can play milsim but ony whit a purpose! :D I'm quite aware of the current Berget rules, but what me and many others are trying to do is to argue in favor of shif...

I think a lot of people should stay at home and attend regular weekend speedball games instead of trying to criticize attempts to improve Berget events by steering it towards more structured and rewarding milsim.

Milsim and "mission type" is okay for me but if berget focus to much on the role play part they aint going to get so many players. Well, as a grunt you wouldn't have to worry about the RP too much as long as you respect the story, conditions and those who try to stay in character. The only ones who...

This subject may be worth a thread of its own - i.e. individual skirmish mindset versus milsim in big airsoft-events affecting game dynamics etc. It may seem like airsoft-events beyond a certain number of participants can result in some people diverting from the game plan to seek more individual ac...

I was with the US Department of State and though the experience on our side was somewhat plagued with misunderstandings and repeated hostility, especially from NATO which should have been the least concern (I'll deal with all that in some other thread), we did have a great time until a serious offga...

I was one of the civilian US Department of State guys in Bashir City and one of our main goals was to establish Bashir as the No-fire zone it was supposed to be. We were working with the mayor and all the different factions and as we finally achieved our goal on friday afternoon (it was a joy to see...
