My best B7 moment?
Friday, before noon. I hear a contact has been made on a small roadblock by a squad from our company. Several mercs with a light vehicle have been destroyed. Soon it's calm.
It's always calm before the storm they say. Not long when I hear on the radio that a large convoy of vehicles dropped off enemies at the same location where the fire fight had emerged just minutes ago. Two platoons of mercenaries closing in on a single squad. I gear up and sound the alarm to the whole company. I shout out orders to platoon leaders as our commander was not in sight just then. At a rush of confidence, I feel secured that the fighting will seize in a few minutes, but it doesn't. More enemies are being transported to the area by the minute and the shit is really getting close to hitting the fan. "We need artillery support!!!" I hear on the radio.
I grab the gridmap for determining targets for artillery and sprint south over a large field with my fellow officer. I'm now in radio contact with my commander who has an open line to the artillery brigade supporting our battle. "Waiting for targets!" he shouts.
We get to a brush where I have eyes on the battlefield. The enemy is breaking through. "Tulikomentoja(fire missions)!", I start giving out coordinates to my commander and inform our fighting troops that they're going to get fire almost on top of them. "Dig in!"
At this point I must admit it almost got frustrating waiting for the GMs to arrive but they're only human
Also when they finally arrived, it felt that much greater to see them carrying those fireworks
"Where is that support?!" I hear on the radio, just as I start hearing the pounding of a concentration. 30 seconds of pounding and explosions, followed by a perfect silence. A radio message breaks the silence: "Tiger two, this is Hammer 1-0, perfect hit, let them have it"... It only takes a minute to have another concentration on the same location putting an end to the advance of the enemy.
I could go on for ages with my story, as this was merely the start of an epic airsoft battle. Mercenaries versus SRP, later on even Milos Tigers joined the battle from the north. They got their share of artillery as well
During the following 3-4 hours I called in a total of 8 concentrations with one landing on our own forces. The arty boys were too slow, troops afoot had flanked the enemy quicker than I estimated. Sorry fellas!
Although I only shot three or four mags with my AEG while we started flanking the enemy that closed in on our base from the opposite direction, this was by far the most rewarding airsoft experience for me in a while. I'm an artillery reservist and FO -action is very close to my heart, so it's probably why I enjoyed it so much.
I also had another enjoyable moment attacking BC 15 minutes before game off. Me, my two comrades and a bunch of milos(or not anymore, milo had already been executed) boys surprised a NATO coy from their six and shot probably close to a platoon of them at the cemetary and its immediate proximity. Who counts, but I know I nailed Blackwolf!
Not long and I took one on my goggles *DANG*, which worked out just fine as I never wanted to go in a nucular explosion!
Thanks BE and the players for many memorable moments!
