New laws in Portugal (Airsoft included)

Post by STUNTMAN » 20 Mar 2009, 16:43

Dear friends,

After 2 years of gun law in Portugal, where aisoft was involved, sad news for us. a new law was aprooved today. Here is the sad news.

The old law said partial red ou yellow painted gun, without saying where. We allways paited the flash hider. Now:

- Small guns (Minus 30 cm) - 5 cm starting the barrel and tottaly fist (hand grip) painted.
- Long guns (Plus 30 cm) - 10 cm starting the barrel and full stock painted.

All airsoft guns must be aprooved by our police.

To buy and use airsoft guns we must be federated and the federations sign on our police and sport institute.

Foreign players can play in Portugal withou painting and with limits up our law (1,3J) but to do that, must be federated and our police must be infomed by that federation on that. The permit it's for the game duration.

We can buy inside EC (European comunity).

For now it's this... sad news.

Lets us wait for better days.

Let us see what future bring us. When we arrive Berget we let you take some pictures with our guns...

That is sad. Maybe its time to move? :)
You can probably cover that shining red with some camo tape when you arrive at Berget.

Keep on fighting my friend.

In Norway we have a national assosiation that was set up to let people play when airsoft was banned in norway. It is still here, and does a lot of work up with official channels. It is not all bad. And you might find that if the national unit proves that they are serious and the members can be trusted, your members might be allowed to use weapons on the skirmish field without the marker paint. Strickt gunlaws are unfortunatly something I think we will all have to deal with soon, so let us hope you and the UK will show how there is still room for the serious airsoftere!

Sorry to hear about this guys, Glad to hear I can still visit though, even with some complications. I am sure you will all get used to it. I see a great market opportunity for barrel wraps and stock covers to put on the rifles when you get into the field ... 8)

How are pistols going to look? will the whole top slide be colored?

if you have threaded barrels like the guarder m4 barrel, you can have two barrels, change them i 10 sec, a stock is changeable in 10 sec, i cant see any problem with changing these parts for transportation. i see it the laws still make problems for the organized airsofters.

Hello Stuntman,

This is a very sad affaire. We here in Germany are fighting to get Auto-Fire legal. I thing for the long run it is important to get the industrial lobby involved. It is them who loose sales and members to the sport. They have a stronger elbow and can counter the arguments of the police better then clubs. It might take a long time but one should not give up hope.
We are keeping our fingers crossed for you in Portugal.
