Gas Weapons in Sweden

Post by Waldo » 12 Feb 2011, 00:16

I found something that concerns me a bit, and i hope that you can give me an advise:

The English Wikipedia states in section "Sweden" of the article "Legal issues in airsoft" that
Any other propellant then Air or Co2 is illegal to own.
So do i have to get Co2 mags for my WE M4 and get another sidearm, or is Wikipedia wrong?

Thanks for your help :)

The weapon law is under revision as we speak, and is a heated topic in the swedish AS forums. As of now it seems that Gas is being legalized, but untill then, we have to follow the law. However, if you believe you can get your gas powered weapons to Berget and back without problems, then I don't really see a problem with it

In the revision of the law, it's being stated that Gas has a lower energy output than Co2, which is the main cause to why they want it legalized ( as well as the entire AS community in Sweden is pushing them :P )

there are photos of mg42 type wpn's with a gas line and Air bottle so thats ok but,
how about a pistol,
a lot of clubs in nz, use a pistol inside a minimum engagement distance.
eg: the distance your main wpn tears a hole in the side of a coke can,
inside that we (are meant to) use a pistol,
on gas most pistols do between 280 an 350 fps
but a co2 mag will make them stronger, i know of a pistol doing 500 fps on co2 , seems a bit much.
its a courtesy thing, inside a more painful distance we use less power,
well you know,.. we are Meant to anyway. :P

Well, if your pistol shoots 110+ m/s it will have a safety distance of 10m minimum. Speed of the bullet is the important part, not what kind of weapon it is.

I think you mean the asahi mg42. There are many more of this "classic guns" that use an air bottle.

But my problems are my green gas WE M4 and my KJW G32 ;)

so 110 mps = about= 360 fps.. yeh 10m back is ok
but the pistols don't (usually) go that hot.
mine is only doing 280 fps so about 85 mps
minim distance for that, if you bother to have one ?

And i like to use .28 bb's so its a slower beeb in the air but with more punch at the target.
shooting out side i use a WE gas M4 closed bolt and tight-boar barrel,
sometimes with .30 bb's as they punch through the leaf cover better to hit guys hiding behind a bush .. they are slow in the air but smack the target good
Dont forget i live in a country without Full auto,.. only semi :?

anyway. :( 8)
im bringing a WE gas pistol, if it gets taken so be it,.

but just in case ill pack a Co2 pistol as well
sigh.. means i cant use it as i would like to.. up close, seems a wast if so.

i guess ill learn a new way to play eh ? :D

According to rules minimum safety distance for any weapon is 1m. But when you come down to speeds like 80m/s I don't think anyone will hold a grudge if you shoot him/her at 0,5m distance ;)

So is there a problem brining a gas pistol into Sweden or just the gas? How hard is it to get some R134a? I would like to bring my side arm if possible.. and actually use it :)

The problem is the pistol. Gas is easy to get hold of.

You don't think I'll get it past customs if I fly in?

I have traveled via air with my stuff a few times and never had a problem, Swedish customs have never once stopped me, and my gun cases are certainly not inconspicuous.... All depends on your own appetite for risk. You can always argue its a CO2 pistol (which I believe is allowed)....

Will the change be before B9, or do I have to bury my hopes of bringing my green gas mags?
