We almost acidently ran into the ZBO camp at the first night when we took a wrong turn....was a bit strange to find so many civilians somewhere in the woods where we thought there would be nothing :D

We knew, but as panzer said, we needed to prove it. No concreet ties firm-zanzians was got by us, so we needed to play the game...but civilians did report that the firm was pro naf (but then again, they changed a s the money did) ;)

The funny thing is, we were told pre-game that the Firm is pro-Poldavia since we are operating on Poldavian soil, and pro-NAF only when we are in the green and in the shit. Overall we were only interested in getting our mission done by using the other sides as best as we could to further our agenda. Well the pro-Poldavia stance quickly changed when Poldavians started blowing up our trucks at random and shooting us on sight.

On arrival to Safezone , late Tuesday, there was serious disbelief about being able to pull off the Firm/Zansian trick with our tents being within BB shooting distance from the safezone.

We tried using several routes to/from the SZ, but it was pretty clear that at some point someone would notice the trail of civilians from the nearby forest :) Ultimately however the safezone was not that heavily used. Folks came over, respawned, but did not actively seem to spend time there as it was far away from Janco and both NAF/Polly bases.

During the game I also realised that the fog of war really hides a lot of stuff. When a guy in OD+blue armband shoots at you, you probably do not have a clue where the shot even came from. Without any "metainfo" it would probably have been very hard to decode the plot...we were pretty careful with the OD uniforms and how they were used.

I think that it would even have been fair for BC to not mention Zansians at all in the team descriptions, since like many ppl mentioned, it was fairly evident that the Finnish contingent was such a strong candidate. Nevertheless, big thanks to folks who had off-game info but decided not to act on it.

Indeed. It wouldve ruined the game if we wouldve gone around telling everyone that the Firm is Zansian Blackops. Wouldve been terrible to know that something I said wouldve ruined the story. :P

And still all partys made business and contracts with us and let us run our office in Janco :D. I guess you still found Firm useful (or at least thought so) or/and our cover never totally collapsed ingame. Or just wanted to see how things go on :). Our office was crucial to Firm operations. Without it it would have been impossible to make contracts and run Firm's "day time operations" like escorts and would have been hard to get information for ZBO operations.

We "office workers" were prepared to make a quick extraction to the woods into our base camp if compromised and situation getting too hot. We were quite sure that our mission would end when Poldavians raid Janco and their pioneer "exploded" office door and took all of us out and searched our office. But no, eventually they made contract with us 7 guys ("You are the PMC's? We want to hire you.") :D Btw. Didn't you find that SAM missile and launchpad in our office or did you just find it not interesting? ;)

There is a big difference between knowing offgame and knowing ingame. Thank you for all who had offgame suspicions or even knowledge not to misuse it ingame.

I can verify Mardu's comment.

The Firm office in Janco was one of the key elements of Zansian ability to accomplish our main operations (Raid to crypt, Elder's escort to graweyard, druging one elder with truth cerum, getting contact with Gypsies, these wouldn't be possible to do without the Office). If Poldavian would have destoyed the Firm's office, our intel from the field would have been cut severely. Pete and his "emplyees" did a great job for the entire Zansian team.

Karko wrote:Any NAF players here who remember taking 11 "civilian miners" as prisoners behind the NAF base at wednesday night?

Our orders were to take away all battle gear and guns and dress up as civilians, come up with a cover story (= Miners) and act like ones. Then find NAF base and gather intel about it. After we found it, we got taken as prisoners and put to sit in the field with our hands behind our backs while being searched.

Gave us a good laugh afterwards cause one NAF soldier had told his Battalion Commander "Something stinks" when they found a batt. radio on our squad leader/boss. Also one of our soldiers had forgotten a glock17 magazine on him but luckily wasnt found on the search. You guys sure suspected something was weird but let us go. ;)
I was there, part of a two man patrol around the base. Once the other patrol came around we were ordered to detain you and search you. You guys played good. Later on I heard about the radio they found on you and thought to put all the "off-game" info together and went "The Firm guys are Zansians!" Nevertheless, you guys acted like true civilians when the airstrike came in. Scared shitless. Was really fun.

Oh, and Outokumpu mining company? I thought it was the Janco mining company. ;)

Outokumpu mining company was just something we thought on the way to your base (it's actually a real Finnish mining company).

We had one guy's aluminum weapon case as sample bag and filled some plastic bags with samples on the way. It was actually great fun to just RP without weapons.

We were as surprised as the NAF guards when the artillery strike hit the NAF base just as the guards were questioning us. The coincidence made us seem very suspicious.

My recon squad reported for SURE that Firm/ZBO were now working for NAF in the evening on thursday when returning to base we spotted a Firm Van that we ambushed earlier on the southern road full of Firm that was unloading Firm personnel dressed in OD with NAf Armbands. we also saw them on Degas Plateau and reported that too.

I want to take this oportunity to thank the finns for being such amazing good sports and also for providing us with the best roleplay of the game when my 6 man recon squad ambushed your recon/patrol on the road near the lake south of the poldavian base, when you were agressively scouting towards our base.. and then i managed to bluff you into turning back home.

2 vans stopped RIGHT below us as we were in ambushing positions 10 meters from the road, and unloaded a shitload of finns in Firm gear.. we thought we were dead for sure, tried to let you pass by, but you decided to climb into the forest on the left of the road right on top of us. The faces of your guys as they finally spotted me 5 meters away were priceless, one guy raised his weapon at me and then my whole squad unloaded on you guys.. i think you lost something like 20 of the 30-35 people you had there in the first minute, with one wounded for us..we had excellent cover and a huge elemnt of surprise.. Some of your guys had no ideea what was happening or where the fire was coming from, it was great luck that you stopped right on top of us.. Our grenadier tried to take out your vans, but the BAVS failed twice( due to leaves in the way no doubt). It was actually the first time we heard Finns ask for a cease fire, and then asking to medic the wounded.( "we're civilians why are you shooting at us?")

My conditions were for all able players to move into the road, and just the medics to heal while i talked to the HQ.. i knew you still had guys in the forrest, but a prolongued engagement would have been sure death for us, so i decided to bluff and trust you in keeping your word, and came out into the road and had a very beautifull roleplay with one of your guys:

" we have mandate from UN , we are looking to find trade routes""
( yeah right 35 heavily armed guys agressively scouting 1 km from our base :D)
me:
"i apologise for the misunderstanding, but this is Poldavian soil, we are the Poldavian army, there is no higher authority.. you are approaching poldavian base of operations restricted zone, turn back or you will be shot"

This exchange went on for 5-10 minutes, and i was sure you guys were about to blow my head off, but i counted on you not knowing how many we were, and having so many wounded allready, and not wanting to blow your cover so i pushed and held my ground and finally your guys turned back.

I gave them some of our Death Cards and asked them to send my regards to you Olli, and also i remember that one of your guys had a hillarious comment when i apologised for shooting them:
"bah, it's just a flesh wound!"

That was awesome, thanks finns you were great fun and fairplay as usual.
Ayrappaa!! ( and vittu :P)

PS: we were on a recon mission to try and find the Firm base of opperations, we thought it was where the old SRP base was.. and we proceeded there with our pants a little damp after that encounter with you guys.

I was the one calling for cease fire. I thought you guys might fall for it and let us regroup and see who we were fighting. I was also the other guy talking to you ( or more providing cover for the talking guy) and counting your men. I managed to count 5 of you, so it seems I was not too far off.

We were ready to shoot all of you guys, but HQ told us not to. Probably because it would have arisen suspicion about the firms motives. So we headed back and circled around you towards the old grave yard.

I'm really sorry to inform you that your count is quite far off. I went up the hill some 25m from you, so I saw everyone who got hit. There were 4-5 of them. :D You would think that our two medics would have taken the better part of an hour to heal 20 guys :D

Kudos to you for the great ambush and for the great roleplay. I was suprised to see that from a grunt. <3

Thank you and your team for the my best memory of the Poldavian army on Berget 9! I was the medic of the Firm/ZBO Team November. One of the teams you encountered.

Now I want to tell our side of the story.

Ofcourse we were not there to find safe trade routes.

Our int had told that there was Poldavian artillery positioned near the Old Forest Graveyard. We had orders to destroy the artillery unit, scout the southern part of the game area and join our main offensive on the Eastern Roadblock area and stay there until 5PM (we stayed 'till 23PM, the only supply being water, no food or ammunition).

The operation was conducted to help NAF get their stuff together after being pushed far back by the Poldavian army. The Southern road was selected to get as near as possible to the Graveyard. We were in believe that no faction had a reason to shoot Firm members, as we were civilians, after all.
Rhyn0 wrote: Some of your guys had no ideea what was happening or where the fire was coming from, it was great luck that you stopped right on top of us..

i think you lost something like 20 of the 30-35 people you had there in the first minute, with one wounded for us..we had excellent cover and a huge elemnt of surprise..
As we saw destroyed NAF forces by the road we decided to dismount from the vehicles, so we could quicly change to NAF uniform (not ZBO this time!) and head to the Graveyard. We had both pickup-truck and a van literally stuffed with our guys, making about 25 fighters. Our misfortune was your fortune as the van dropped our men just beneath you guys!

We were puzzled because we didn't expect any fire upon us while operating in civilian clothes. We hadn't expected to drop right on hostile force either :D

After the fire ceased we decided that it was better not to fight, as the Bockberget was very dense and steep and we had seen you guys taking new positions uphill. Plus we were adviced not to shoot any faction while wearing the Firm uniform.

We were in disadvantage our backs against the road and a lake – a big hill in front of us. Tactical failure to dismount at that location.

I have to let you down. You didn't get 20 of us. I was the medic who came to rescue our wounded guys and I healed 4 or 5, including one medic who healed another guy. Good shooting anyway.

Anyway, we had been spotted and the area was clearly not suitable for changing on the NAF clothes in our backpacks. We had to move back several hundred meters to get some privacy for dress-up.

Another misfortune was that 3 of our guys had decided to hide to the forrest. Rest of the team didn't get the radio message where they asked to move on their own.

So I was ordered to search if the guys were wounded. They might had moved through the forrest and your lines and had a change to harass your artillery - or at least do recce for the main group. However they were called back to the main group and we had to take the painstakingly long route through the hills and swamps to the by then empty graveyard.

I'm actually a 3 year Berget veteran (now), and i was the platoon leader for 3rd Mountaineers Recon. i resent being called a grunt by a pay-to-fight soldier whore [/rp] :p

good to hear the other side of the story, and i won't ruin that by arguing, but i personally shot the 6 guys nearest to me ( 3 up the slope, 3 down near the road), and quite likely 2 more up the slope.
Some people inflate their numbers, others deflate it, everyone has their pride.. :D it doesn't matter that much because it's good when we all had fun.

I know you had unbelievable bad luck to land right on top of us, but that ambush position was chosen carefully, and also the NAF dead you encountered were from an earlier ambush that we set, 200 meters more up that road. We actually thought NAF called you guys in to clear the ambushers, as you arrived some 30 minutes after we sent them running home yelling ( they are too many, fall back to base! lol) and dismounted in a perfect position to clear out my previous ambush.

And yes, i knew we were most likely dead if we continued fighting, and were almost sure you would shoot us after healing your wounded, but my AEG piston stripped during the firefight and i was down to my handgun. Our objective was met anyway, i had managed to report to HQ both about NAF and you, so we would have died happily.( My last words to HQ before coming into the road were something like: I'm going into the middle of 30-ish angry finns in the middle of the road, to try and bluff them back..God help us! IF i don't report back in 10 we're all dead :D) Luckily that went as well as could have expected, and my squad continued the mission for about 7 more hours, and ended up ambushing about 200 NAF near the powerlines :D

Again thank you for that fight and roleplay.
