Stoves would be great, no matter what the tent is (german, swedish, finnish). It dries you gear and it keeps the tent dry, also prevents leaking to some extent. And it dries up the tent a bit so those would not be packed so wet when the game is over.

Of course with the tent comes the responsibility and the safety issues. People need to know how to operate the stove and keep their tents and the people safe. Believe me, it is not rare people accidentally burning themselves or the tents with the stove, so there is a small safety issues with those. None the less, get them stoves!

Firewood for +2k players would be quite expensive. Would players be willing to pay for better sleeping accomodations with a stove and firewood?

Alot of things to take into consideration. What would give you guys the most bang for your buck so to say.

I would gladly pay more for the fire woods. Or just drop out the t-shirts or something to compensate the price. Or make the t-shirt optional for those who wants it. I would rather take the firewood than the t-shirt that doesn't help me drying the tent and my gear.

Would it be bad idea to just sell firewood? Of course the price should reasonable... But selling them (having a price) would also make people to think how to use firewood and not use them to make walkways like in B8.
We brought our own firewood and burned about an amount that fits in two blue Ikea bags. About a half bag was left over (we also gave some to our neighbour tent).
So, the amount of wood needed depends quite a lot of how you use it and what are the weather conditions. But giving it "free" can lead to overconsuming...

Actually I agree with Surmuri on this one. The ammount of the needed firewood depends on the actual weather / people's preference. You could by stock amount of wood and sell it in some particular size to the players. The left over firewood could be sold again next year and so on. Fire wood doesn't turn bad in a year or two, it just needs to be kept dry.

Storing and transporting firewood for 2000 people to and from the game area would be a logistical nightmare. Not to mention that the stoves would be all sorts of safety hazard.

Ever think about kerosene heaters? Kerosene as fuel is lighter and more compact compared to wood in terms of energy yield. And it is also easier control the burn on kerosene than it is that of wood.

This typer of heater
http://www.marinekauppa.com/tuotekuvat/ ... 5.2010.jpg
has energy yield of 2200 watts. And a single kerosene heater like that in a big tent like can make a world of a difference.

And if it happens to be a warm year, and no heating is required, kerosene can be easily stored and keeps forever.

Also those heaters usually have all sorts of safety features, like automatic shutdown in case somebody tips it over.

Stoves and wood would be great.
Although those kerosene heaters might have safety features, i don't think that they are safer then a normal stove. Just think of a tank-leak or someone who overfills it and then there is kerosene on the tentfloor which can be a great hazard for everyone inside.

Yes, there are safety issues for both, stoves and heaters.
In the end money is the point which decides it and you just need to inform the players about the safety-issues (with some kind of instructions on a sheet of paper and a short information before the game).
I think we are all grown up and KNOW that fire inside a tent or building can be dangerous.

Then tent was great expect "ours" wasn't storm-proof (ie it came down). But then again that was "extreme" weather.

I use a kerosene-heater like that, and it works perfekt!

So we could sell firewood and or carosene by the ingame kiosk in the bases and everybody would be happy to pay for what they use?

Transportation is no problem since we have trucks and traktors.

Those in the tents would be responsible for the tents in case of a fire.

Those of you who have owned these tents, what can you say about the canvas over time?

Just sell firewood and/or kerosene in the kiosk, that way we can just buy it if we need it.

Maybe a suggestion is to have the big german tents as an extra you can tic off just like a berget lockbox or a BAVs grenade. Then maybe more will bring their own tents military tents.

I have used both the Swedish army tent and the one you are considering above. There is nothing wrong with the Swedish variant as long as it whole!

The one we goth this year was an insult considering the ticket price!

We used the German tents on B9 and wold prefer it in an airsoft game.
