It would be a good idea for the NAF HQ to come up with a suggestion on a Blue Force Tracking (BFT) system to use.
We've been using Battletac (an App) at previosly events, so the idea is open to us.
However there are things to consider. Operation Security procedures for once.

But with BFT it is exactly 'the more the merrier' if things have been thought through and we have feasible concept. I'd hate being busted 100 meters from enemy base because a fellow squad have lost their BFT unit without a password.

I have hear that "some german guys" used PES last year on GCT side and thought that if some one is using it (or anything similar to it) it would be nice to know before we are in the game area. Since our squad (or at least me) could consider that is it worth to get internet connection and some "field phone" for that purpose. We also move with the car so it would be nice to know what lies ahead, so we don't drive to ambush or in impasse. Also would be nice to know that is there friendly units somewhere near by at all.

I don't know is BattleTac free to use in big scenarios like this one is but PES is not. So that's probably one reason why HQ is not interested to host and handle it for the players that would like to use it. Security should not be a problem since every smartphone and tablet have screen lock. And it would be kind of rude to force other players to open their cellphone for enemy players, since those phones can include also your personal stuff. For example, I would never handle my communication device's to other players ingame.

I also know that HQ is planned to use some type of cellphone application for communication purposes between some unspecified units. So running some type of BFT system beside it should not be too complicated.

We will be using Whatsapp between platoon leaders, company commanders and the NAF HQ. Companies and platoon will use radios for their own comms.

There is no plan to use any sort of blufor tracker, and there is virtually no point to use it with just a few squads.

Well I believe its now too late to ask from ppl who would be interested to use any BFT system, but if HQ (or someone) would been calculated the cost's of it per squad (or device) and ask from every team on our side are they interested to use it for the price it would cost I believe there would be a good amount of players who would join into it. It just need to be made easy enough for new users to get into.

For example: cost 5 euros per device, only squad leaders (or radio operators, if squad have any) and higher rank able to join in. Download app names XXXX from appstore, working only with android. Then easy hand in hand tutorial how to set it up and use it ingame (like youtube video or something).

Just my opinion

We have our comms system sorted out. Perhaps in the future it will become more used. :)

Thanks for the good suggestion though.

I would suggest everyone who has good ideas or ready plans how to run comms etc. to step up earlier next year! You are always needed. This year it's just little bit too late to make major changes.

Also, since virtually no one volunteered for HQ duty, we have to prioritise our HQ personnel for more important tasks unfortunately.

Not to say we dont have people, HQ consists of 10 people right now, which means we are able to run it 24/7 if needed.

Well I am always interested in different type of comm's, but I am not interested to do any leadership kind of things. So I can help to set up stuff probably next year, but I want to keep my own communication on the level that I can still enjoy the actual game on the field.

And now I actually came up with one idea related to our radio comm's that I could try to help with.

More important then comms? Well, then I expect s4 to deliver in field mobile burger bar or S5 to give out 20 page plans for every mission if there is tasks In HQ more important then comms to lower units in a 3,5 day airsoft event....

If you were short on personel for HQ you should advertise it. I considered volunteering for HQ duty or help in preparations before the game, but I thought there were alot guys like me but whom did more than consider it :)

It has been advertised, maybe we shouldve been a bit more active about it.

We're confident in the ability of the HQ right now though. All company commander positions have been filled, now its just about players being active and getting in touch with their leaders so we have as many people as possible in the loop before the game. Most of the "mission critical" information will come from your coy commander before the game, as the forums are even less secure now than they have ever been. Theres a really big chance the enemy team has our password due to the amount of tickets that still havent been moved to the right side, and the password being sent automatically to basically everyone who just selected squadleader or higher in registration.

What is the point in that password thing anyway, why they just cant make it like that your ticket to one side is permanent if you activate your access to their private forums tab.
