I love this bit
In other words, only teams with snipers and their spotters are allowed wear clothing (or other material)s that cover the body or parts of the body........]
With only sniper teams allowed to wear clothing, the mosquitos are going to have a great week :D

I have personally been pushing for a clarification. See here: viewtopic.php?f=97&t=8297

Guess that is part of the reason. I welcome the official stance, although I would have preferred more flexible rules. I do however see the point in keeping it simple.

This clarifies a lot, but not everything.

Will bringing on camo netting or twigs on your helmet or boonie now classify as ghillie-hat?
Or is that still allowed for players other than sniper/spotter?

I sent this same text to directly BE email

Sorry, but i'm really questioning this new ghillie rules.
First of all, rangers/shadows and similar units have been considered on past years as a recon, milsim, stealth and search&destroy-ish. Small groups, not like 20+ men infantry squads where is almost 'impossible' to move and operate silently, because of airsoft distances.

So, silent recon units whom main object is reach locations and targets without massive firefight. That's why, for example 3d-jackets and upper torso ghillies, should be allowed for these recon units, even though they are not using snipers or dmr weaponry as main blaster.

Then the part with camo's, NAF have maybe most sexiest camo to use, MultiCam wich is quite light coloured if you are using combat shirt, imagine and compare woodland and MultiCam in dark pine/spruce dominated swedish woods. MultiCam looks like highlighted angel in darker areas.
So, don't cry "use another camo" because I know very clearly what camouflages are available for each team. And MultiCam is very popular and mainly used, for myself I love to use 3d-jacket and MultiCam combat pants.
My point is, that the idea of ranger recon units are bit lost if you are forced to wear same normal bdu's as infantry and then try to operate more silently.

Last year at NAF rangers, there was what? Around 100 rangers? And only about 10 people were using somekind of upper torso ghillie. So (I really don't have real numbers) but if 10% of all rangers used ghillie, whats the problem? Someone was jealous and cried to staff and now its forbidden.

And that camo-netting/sniper veil above your headwear. C'mon. Swedish mosquitos are insane, that's the best way to protect your face from those almost bat-sized bloodsuckers.

I'm really a bit disappointed for this new rule. It has quite killed the point of ranger unit. In my opinion, focus more on rules like shitting in the woods, safety distances, arm-bands or medic rules.

My suggestion is:
Infatry goes only with normal bdu's, arm-band normally
Rangers should have able to use upper body ghillies, like hood or 3d-jacket, arm-band normally
And snipers are allowed to use full ghillie, arm-band in leg
And all players are allowed to protect their heads with camo-netting/veil
That's almost same as last years.

Or just kill whole ranger unit and then, infantry, infantry everywhere...

My regards to BE, you have still time to re-think this, please.

Peace and out.

Second that. Atleast netting should be released for all players. 3D-jackets are also nothing like ghillies, person can feel the hits through one just fine.

Also setting up op is now considerably harder, or atleast requires some players to buy new guns.

I agree balrog who makes a very valid point that infantry should eb only BDU whilst Rangers/UPIR are allowed that semi flexibility shoudl they wish to have a 3d jacket.

Ranger and Shadow units are not meant to be engaging in massive firefights but should be moving around the campaign map stealthily carrying out missions with minimal awareness of the opponent.

Please use some common sense Berget, however I fully expect someone to only have read this post the week AFTER berget :wank:

Both sides' HQs have already cooperated in creating a document with suggestions and have sent it to BE.

Unfortunately the rule will not change for this edition but word is that it will be reviewed after B15 based on player experiences.

Just a side note, the new rules specifically say that you are allowed to use the veil for protecting your face ( bullets, mosquitos, same thing, same size ;) ) The rules will not change for B15.
