I don't have much bad to say about this years game, except that it felt like blue was using us MP more like mech / inf. This is just my point of view and I apologise if command really tried to give us larp missions etc.
-> No need to apologize. MP got more missions (larp and mp specific) than all other combined.
Issue was that you culdnt get to the village. The reds blocked us off good. I personally asked the MP platoon comanders what they wanted to do and we ended up moving the mech MPs to Mech. That stayed for about a day untill they went back.

Also when we give missions we expect that the comander asks for help/support if needed. This was never done from MPs. Hq never controlled you guys. When you worked with Mech, The Mech comander had comand and you went on Mech missions.

Note that HQ hade most to do with solving the issues within MPs. There was all kinds of issues that im not going to discuss here. But they all lead to the situation you wher in.

I was the squad leader on the M6 Truck, TFC.
My third Berget, second time in mech, first time as squad leader.

Enjoyed the game a lot this year, we worked good as a team and was very good at taking out Red mech and infantry. The M6 truck and the 19 men in the back was a blast to lead.

+Armband, going to sew on some Velcro and reuse it for next Berget.
+That the driver and owner of the M6 was willing to drive it 840 kilometres one way to Berget and the same 840 kilometres back home!!
+Very little cheating!
+Friendly and talkative Reds, on several occasions when we got shot out we talked with shot out Reds. We enjoyed the lack of “Us versus them” mentality!
+The kiosk was nice as always, I hope Sollefteå Hockey earned good money.
+Telegram, I like this way to communicate, it freed up my radios for squad com and truck com.
+I heard several PTW’s on both Red and Blue side, good to know people still enjoy them.
+BAVS system, this is starting to be a very good system, please don’t stop to improve it further.
...
Looking forward for Berget 18!

Hi Icarus,
We are the 3 Russians on covere Ford Ranger. it was very nice to fight next you, guys, especially on day 2 drone fuel mission! We'll see you next year.

I can completelly follow and agree on your feedback.
And to addition to it, BAVS receivers should be a bit improved, making RG45 connector sealed by the crew. I suspect (not accusing anyone) that there were moments, when the RG45 was disconnected on some vehicles, making those vehicles indestructible... Very annoying, especially if people do it on purpose.

Berget 17 has been my third one, previously I have done the 15 again in Solleftea and the 14 in Harnosand. Sadly I had to say that this has been one of the worst even I've ever been in (also considering other international ones like BW).

I don't know how many of the paying players actually did show up, but I seriously doubt that there were really short of 1000 players for each side. Provided I was in a mixed platoon of RED Infantry and that may have been slowing down things a little bit, in 48h of real play we spent most of our time walking and waiting for an enemy who eventually never show up. Frustrating experience.

At the end of day one, after less than 24h of play we got news of some BLUE players packing up and leaving the game, we even crossed some civilian cars in field to support this.

In day two, after another day of doing nothing but walking and some small skirmish, smaller than the average sunday morning game, which by the way we had to look for ourselves, we finally got news that the final battle would have been fought around CP4 (that's 22h before game end by the way). That we have to get there and protect some VIPs for 3 hours and after that we would have pretty much won the war.
After 2 hours of waiting, nothing happened except for the encounter with a breave BLUE recon team of three who got wasted in 2 minutes max. We heard a siren which called mission completed, and message on Telegram to get back to base and get ready in 1 hour. By the way it takes about 30 minutes only to get back to base from that position.

For me this was the end of the most disappointing Berget AND Airsoft event ever.

I honestly don't know if I will come again. It takes a lot of time and money to get to Solleftea from south of Europe and seeing people leave after 24h, only because they took a beating in some encounters is nothing else than a total lack of respect. This can only be PLAYERS' falut, but for the rest...
If really there were 2000 people on the field (which I seriously doubt, by the way) and I, like many others to whom I spoke, barely saw the enemy, that can only be blamed on FACTIONS LEADERS AND EVENT CREW.

To see the effort of having tanks and drones and airstrikes and BAVS and all that comes along, being utterly thrown to trash by poor game management is a total shame.

This is very painful for me, because Berget WAS by far my favourite event and what I saw was a bloody disgrace and lack for respect, if not for the money spent for ticket and travel, at least for the effort of leaving family and work behind and travel 2500 km to be there.

If you want Berget to be a Northern Europe only event, just say it out loud, but at least be honest about it.

This was my first time at Berget, and I had a great time! Alot of firefights and my platoon were involved in cool missions about the whole game..
There is one thing I wantet to address tho. After 3 hours of building fortifications, waitng and preparing for this huge battle, we got taken out by friendly, blue on blue, artillery 2 minutes into the firefigt. And with artillery beeing instant death, this felt kind of BS. Other than that, great event, and can't wait for next years Berget.

This year was my first time at Berget, and I came in expecting pretty much just a LOT of walking each day, and maybe some shooting.
Berget presents itself as a huge airsoft event that has now in the forum been stated is not milsim... But it's not just skirm, either. It's not really clear what it is, and maybe that should be crystallised in design and intent.
It feels like this is an event that has grown too big for the Berget Events team to manage successfully. Like you never expected or planned for this many people, and are struggling to give everyone something to do. I can't see behind the curtains - though I would certainly like to, to help point out problem areas - but it's clear from one experience and feedback from this and previous years that the current Berget Events organisation has way too little grip or oversight on their hosted event, and would benefit from structural changes and maybe an influx of extra hands on the event team.

The miltary simulation element is extremely poorly executed, though the fault for that lies with my team, and not berget. It was not a multi-day skirm event either. Instead, this felt like an airsoft-included camping trip and nothing more. Facilities were mediocre, customer transparency is laughable and storyline non-existent. I might give it another shot next year purely because I don't like making decisions based on a single experience, but don't bet a ticket on it.

Feedback Berget

* Dixies were sufficient in amount, but should have been sanitised after emptying better. Not having them refilled with the blue sanitary liquid feels extremely cheap but may have been a suppliers problem. Worth looking in to...

* Showers were bad, but as this was my first time with the type of showers, and how little I saw them being used, I assume this was calculated for.
*Berget Shop on web being absent seems like a huge loss, both for players and for the organisation. It was frankly very disappointing (And worrying) that this was not sorted out and live months before.

* Not communicating clearly how important a teamband is during ticket buying, nor mentioning what colour deathrag is necessary for players/NPCs/GMs feels like an oversight that can and should be easily fixed next year. It will save a lot of people having to tear up their deathrags into tiny pieces for their friends and then walking an hour to the Shop to buy extra. To clarify: This is all info that could have been added to a quick-briefing that could be mailed out or made available BEFORE the event on the site. Yes, it is all in the rules, but that entire quick-start guide we got could have been posted online to prime your players with. It would greatly smoothen things out.

* Communicating the location and position of everything physically less than a week before the event is impossibly amateur. I have never known any other event of any comparable size OR LESS to have done things this badly. Very frustrating to players, and now imagine being an international player/team, and that you have to book a plane or ferry ticket only a week before gametime because it still wasn't communicated where it was. Having to find out where to go to by GPS coordinates left by a fellow player on the forums is unacceptable - though very much appreciated by said player.

* The forum needs to be fixed. Migrate to another server with more reliable data throughput or make it legacy with a new forum altogether on a new site host that CAN handle more than ten people at a time. You have ~1800 registrants, and the servers break at way less than a tenth of that on the server? What are you doing with all the money from the tickets that you can't cough up a paid MyBBS board on a good host?
Communication between Berget Team and Command players does not seems to have been complete. Withholding information for story reasons is fine, but things should be made as transparant as possible when "Unlocked".

* Financial mismanagement and bad structural planning. How can things like the maps be done on such a late timeframe that A3 maps were not delivered AT ALL, and how come the organisation has not clearly communicated this during the event or AFTER yet? All we got was printed and laminated "Due to a supply problem the A3 maps will not be available, you can get a replacement A4 map instead at the kiosks". At the very least, you could have already communicated a plan for refunds. You *are* doing refunds, right? Either way, failure to communicate these matters make you look very, very bad as an organisation, and trust is everything to maintaining a healthy event and playerbase.

+Team armbands were very cool, and a smart design that I will be sure to copy for other costumes. Nice work!
+General water infrastructure seemed more than plentiful and I am extremely grateful for easy access to drinking water at Blue base, Red base, the village and even a checkpoint!
+ Capture system for CPs was very ingenious. Super cool idiot-proof stuff with a laminated instruction next to it. Very good work. Apparently this was linked to an app or interactive map that showed all of this information live? I've only glanced that from my Squad Lead and some higher-ups, but that is seriously cool stuff.
+ Trash collection was on point, and the supply of a giant freakin' container for trash seems to work very well. Something I will consider for my own things. Only suggestion would be maybe to see if you could separate trash beter - stuff that is worth kronor when turned in, or whatever it's called in Swedish, could be pre-sorted into separate bags for easier recycling. Just plastic bottles and cans to start with, as an experiment.

1) 2 x sinks at red base wasn't enough. 4 would be better or better 2 sinks and 1 'dedicated' hydration carrier fill-up point. Perhaps just one large water tank with the valve instead of the sink? Waiting time was annoying. Not to mention the bottleneck position right in front of the gate entrance.

2) Please add indications (pole with laminated paper and an arrow on it) to capture point & respawn point near CPs. Especially CP9 was a bitch to find.

3) Kiosk improved! Waiting time was minimal and friendly crew.

4) Dixies emptied, but not cleaned properly.

5) Loved the drones. And BAVS/BAAS.

This was my 5th berget and this year was one of the best bergets i have had.
I was Scorpions platoon command of Whiskey Platoon.

Berget,
They improved in a lot of aspects and kept evolving their game. Drones, Sams, ... those things are awesome to encounter in an airsoft game. Especially when they function instead of being props.
They started of with very nice LARP missions. At some point these missions stopped. I have no idea why.
The drugruns, the communication with the local gang, our under cover agents in the village, ... loved it. Made a big difference with last year.
On every big mission or fight there were GM's present so they could jump in when needed.
All base facilities were great, toilets, food, kiosk, ...

Tents,
For some reason a lot of tents were empty this year. I think a lot of people thought they would have no room in a tent and brought their own tent.
This created a lack of space due of all the big tents. But we fixed it on site.

HQ,
HQ did an awesome job. They listend to the players when there were problems. If you contacted them they were fast with their replies. The mission briefings were good and all information of other troop movement was given. And you could re-read everything because the opord was sent to platoon leaders when changed. I don't think i can find one bad thing to say about our HQ.

Mechs,
Closed turrets are a bitch, if you're next to the road and 6 cars pass you all with closed turrets and you don't have AT at hand. You're just screwed. It would be nice to have one side open, just to wait for that good moment to shoot the gunner. Or limit the closed turrets.
The biggest thing this year was the MED (minimum engagement distance). Guys most of you are shooting with class 4 weapons with a high rate of fire. Don't shoot at guys next to you on the road. This stuff is just dangerous. I saw several (i have them on video) cars just spraying in the ditch hoping to shoot people. I understand that you shoot in the forrest, just don't aim to anything closer then your MED. We had one teammate that has a concussion (yes he went to the doctor) from being hit 5 times on the head with a class 4 weapon at a 2m distance.

It was the first time we brought our car (Bismarck) to berget and we loved it.

Our movies (25th Mountaineers) will be online (hopefully soon) on youtube.
We have over 250gb of footage.

Thank you all for the game!

Thank you for your feedback!

I am very sad to hear that you had a bad event, many of us work extremely hard year around to improve things!
I can not take that feeling away from you, but i will point out some missunderstandings in your post.

- There were just short of 2000 players participating in this years game ( Checked in players ), There were less than 100 people difference between red and blue.

- Players did not leave within the first 2 days, with the excpetion of a few that had a friend that got very sick. The Civilian vehicles you met on the field were most likely Security staff or latecommers ( we have some people showing up thursday evening due to travel issues ) . This was a rumour along with the " red being 600 people more than blue " , which was ingame propaganda.

The lack of fighting issues is a SERIOUS issue, i know that alot of red players ( those hanging around blue base ) had alot of action, so much that the blue couldnt get out.

These issues will be one of our top priorities for next game, balance is #1 priority when it comes to the gameplay. One possible solution is to have less capturepoints and a bit more of a delay on airdrops etc , to move the fighting to specific areas. Like friday evenings convoy.

Once again, i appologize that you felt you had such a bad game, and if there is anything i can do for you, Please contact me directly thru PM/Mail

Thanks,

i get so dissapointed that so much of your negative feedback is missunderstandings based on poor information from us. That could have been SO easily avoided, and i will take much of you write towards next years game to make sure these silly mistakes doesnt happen again. When you have had so many games, its easy to assume that everyone know everything, even when its always so many firsttimers coming every year.

Some comments:

- Berget is a mix of all Airsoft styles. Thats why we have smaller teams within a faction to represent different game styles ( INF / MECH / MILSIM / LARP ) You get missions based on the team you are in.

- Customer Transparacy , Can you please explain further on what you mean here?

- Armbands, Completely agree. Will be much more clear in the future. Overlooking, Thank you!

- " Communicating the location and position of everything physically less than a week before the event is impossibly amateur "
This is not true. We posted the game area when we released the ticket information in early November last year, and then confirmed the game location this February. It could always be found in our " INFO " Tab on the homepage: http://www.berget-events.com/info " THE GAME AREA "
With that said, we obviously failed to make this clear enough, and this will also be much more clear in the future, Thank you!

- Forums being Fixed, Couldnt agree more, its being worked on ( moving hosts )

- * Financial mismanagement and bad structural planning.
Not being able to deliver what is promised is indeed horrible. I do not know what went wrong here, but i know responsible people is looking into it. It was a matter of items ordered not being delivered, but i dont have any more info at that time.
If you didnt recieve something you paid for, please contact payment@berget-events.com and they will help you with a refund! Really appologize about this.

- Interractive map, same here. utter fail from us that not every player got this information - The online live interractive map is a huge part of the capture point / war system that also show fictional items such as airdrops that you need to go and find aswell as airdrops, paradrops etc. Will absoluteely be more clear for next game, Thank you!

And all other feedback that i havnt commented on is also compiled and sent on for team review.

Thank you so much for all your feedback, and i do really hope to see you next year!

We quickly realised that a dedicated system to fill up water (quicker) aside from the sinks. Looking into for next game.

Capture points having arrows is kindof missing half the fun of trying to find it ;) Respawn is a whole other issue, and will be looking into, Thanks!

Kiosks were indeed great! its their second year, and they found alot of improvements - And even got more for next year!

We heard alot about the cleaning of toilets, looking into that.

Drone system will be expanded, and so will BAAS.

Thank you, hope eyou had a good game!

The missions didnt really stop coming - Some were possible to be repeated ( Drugs ) and some major missions were never completed ( MISSING PEOPLE ) , Those had a long story arc that led to kidnapped people, but oh well :) Since people liked the missions and the LARP was a general success, we will try to expand and improve it for next year

Tents - There were ALOT of players this year that booked a tent spot but brought their own tent anyway... No big deal, i guess :)

Mech - We saw a drastic decrease in vehicle incidents this year after we implemented checkin of cars. But yes, there are some issues still, possibly looking into having a minimum safety distance for ALL vehicle mounted weapons.

Thank you again for the feedback ( And losing in Paintball ). Hope to see you all next year!

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback!

i get so dissapointed that so much of your negative feedback is missunderstandings based on poor information from us.

- Customer Transparacy , Can you please explain further on what you mean here?

...

For starters, I like the approach of teams within the factions with different playstyles. It seems to work well for the most part. There were a gigantic number of reasons that it didn't this event, but that's not something to worry Berget about. We need to figure that out as Blues, and work to make it better next time.

Customer transparancy refers to communication to your players, who are, after all, customers. The rather lacklustre way that Berget releases info on subjects, the timeframes in which those things are released (Which are sometimes far too late) and all the ways that can be improved upon by communicating more clearly, and where possible earlier, with your players.

The GAME AREA bit literally stated "Do not book your tickets until the game area has been confirmed", that.... That is not a good way to entice international players. I'm very much in agreement with what I think is my Spanish team mate who said earlier "If you don't want international players, just be honest about it". Because that's what it looks like right now. That might not be your intent, but that is the imago you're creating with the way you handle information release. The whole "Misunderstandings based on poor information" is exactly what I'm talking about.

Thank you for replying to my feedback, and I hope this clears up some misunderstandings on my part.

Thank you for clearing that up.
I completely agree with what you say, and if you stick around you will see these concerns being worked on and will be improved!

Thank you once again!

This year was my second berget, and also second time playing as red mech.
My experience this year was that there was way too much anti-vehicle weaponry on field. Last year we sometimes survived contact with the enemy, but this year we were consistantly knocked out within 2 minutes of making contact more or less every single time. The "mad rush" on friday consisted of waiting for the car to be fixed, restarting the BAVS reciever, and then instantly dying again. It was ridiculous.

At least we had some missions that interacted with the civilian population which meant we stayed alive untill the blue team decided to attack the village. And those missions were genuinely fun.

Also, a blue mech vehicle was driving without BAVS because they had all their windows rolled down, which effectively made them invincible from the front, and also made them look like they were off game. We let them through our checkpoint because they looked just like all of the other offgame cars coming from blue base, and then not more than a few minutes later we were attacked from behind. We talked to them later and found out they indeed were not offgame.

Other than that, i felt i knew more what was going on and why, and the interactive map was cool.
I also heard the rumours of "1200 reds vs 700 blues", and felt it made the final escort mission on friday feel pointless. All the obvious balancing in blues favour certainly made it feel like we genuinely outnumbered them 2 to 1.

Oh, and also it seems like the bavs recievers didn't work as well this year. We experienced a couple of times where enemies approached us after we died and told us they had shot us many times before we finally died and that we were cheating, even though we checked our bavs and it was on and appeared to be working properly.

Oh, we also experienced enemies trying to force people to exit their vehicle even though it wasn't dead by pounding the windows, shaking the handles and telling everyone to get out.

Overall the missions were fun, the special effects were cool, and i appreciate that the GM's did what they could to make the game more balanced, and this years berget was fun, if a bit frustrating at times.
