The food BE serve will only be served @ spesific times. if forget it, or you're on a mission you'll need something to eat. MRE's are ok, but remember to pick up your trash. MRE's generate plenty of that,

I plan to take drytech food. (google it). Norwegian army FR's i like them better than MRE's. You need hot water and a spoon.
i have boxes of them, if anyone want some they can PM me.

jeez,

nothing tastes better than freshly cooked food. last year we brought propane cooker and we cooked fresh food and even barbequed. near the gameareas was/is a supermarket with a large variety of food and beveareges (appx. 3 minutes with a car) and you can buy from belony to bbq meat.

but

the gamearea is still not known yet

The difference is that the Norwegian field meal is a 24 hour ration, whereas for the same amount of calories you need up to 3 MRE.

I will probably be using a mix of MRE, Drytech and Fresh food.

- It is always easy to carry a stripped down MRE in a utility pocket or similar. Being able to heat up some food with just a dash of water is great
- If you have the possibility to heat the water then the drytech stuff is the next level.
- Finally if you have the time and infrastructure (cool storage, fire/stove/bbq) there is nothing better then a bit of fresh food.

Most fruites and vegetables will be a great complement to "dry-food/fast-food" with vitamines and stuff. Last year i brought an Pineapple (just for trying, and i love it). If you buy a hole fruit, it will last several days without fridge. Just keep them in shade.

Last year i made up several bags of "trail mix" containing several types of nuts, cerials, dried fruits and broken up choclate bars. It provides you with most of what you need for a quick fix and easy to keep in a pouch close to hand.

My five cents on the topic
Pack of oat biscuits also does a great job if you need some calories while on the move or while respawning . I like Nairn's though they are a bit expensive in Bulgaria, than they were back at the time I first found them in UK. The box contains 4 pre-packed pouches that can easily fit into the pockets of your uniform alongside with other stuff.
Just don't put them into your front pockets because if you need to lie down or crawl before eating these, you will need a spoon.
All oat products in principle would be great, because these usually contain low fat and release the energy slower than chocolate for instance. In other words relatively smaller quantity would keep you going a bit longer.

Finnish/Oulu contingent has pretty widely relied on Wayfayrer ready meals which are identical, or at least almost identical, to ones you find in British MRE cartons. Google the brand to find resellers; mostly seem to be available in UK.

For this Berget I relied on dryfood (in the morning), wayfayrer MREs with chemical heaters and snacks (nuts, oat biscuits, tuna, electrolyte drinks). I recommend getting at least a few MREs for those times when you are tired and miserable, as "real" warm food seems to magically cheer you up a lot better compared to a handful of raisins :)
