Vinterberget

An idea: A "Vinterberget" that is set in the same terrain as Berget. But in the cold winter. Temperatures that can drop down to -40 degrees celcius will scare of a significant amount of players for sure. But that i think could be a great benefit for those that would want to go a bit more hardcore. What do you think?

I love Milsim and everything around it, but many, including myself, haven't got the proper training or experience to handle that.

Which is, I think, the reason BE keeps their OP crossroads for swedish players only

Sweden isn't the only country in the world with cold winters, so there should be room for those foreigners who want to attend.

I'd be interested in a Winter Berget, and so would some of my team mates.

An event in winter, never mind what kind of weather conditions, could be some thing to think about. One should take in consideration that in -20 to -40 degrees your batteries and your gas won´t work to well anymore. Further more you would need special winter clothing and sleepingbags. The danger of getting frost injuries on your extremeties is very high. This is not all, you might have to walk thrue very high snow for quite some distance, you could slip and slide and get injured bei nasty falls, more though then in summer. The whole situation is completely diferent as in summer and your financial investments, never mind of travel would be considerable higher.
Further more, Berget Event is needing most of the year to organize the event in summer, how long do you think they need to plane and organize an event in winter ? I can´t imagine a lot of airsofters from warmer regions like Italy or Spain would look forward to it, not to forget Israel or southern France.

Northern Sweden is NOT where you want to airsoft during the winter ... besides the cold, there's also a severe lack of daylight.

There are already situations of hypothermia in summer Berget. What do you think would happen in winter?

+ It´s "cool"..
+ Bright for the 2 hours of daylight.
+ Not many civis running around.
+ I love winter.

- Not many AEG:s remain functional below -5. (Gears splinter, springs break, batteries freeze.)
- Gas & Co2 basically don´t operate below 0.
- Many players don´t have sufficient gear for operations in the cold.
- Majority of players can´t handle the cold. (exception Rus. Fin. and North Swe.)

If it gets much below -10 the hopup becomes useless in a very short time, and takes a lot of fun out of it as well. I think we should focus on keeping 75% of Berget players in game during a summer rainstorm as our "bring airsoft to next level" objektiv for now.

All I imagine is these guys who forget to bring rain gear to Berget trying to literally "survive" in the Swedish winter time. Yeah... That would end so well.

-If you can´t handle swedish summer with rain, stay away from our winter with snow!!!

Personally, i think it CAN be a nice experiance with more winter-games!!

Oh the amount of realism with real dead people. Some who are more into hardcore gaming might like it, but personally m'thinks this idea is utter bollocks.

Guys, the idea isn't to make Berget into a winter game, but to maybe have a second smaller game for more dedicated milsimmers in the winter, using the same area as Berget. Doesn't have to be in the mid of winter either. March or something would do. Milder temperatures and more hours of sunlight, but still snow and stuff.

Drawing players from Sweden, Norway, Finland and maybe some from Russia and other parts of Europe, this might add up to 2-300 players total. Not Berget sized, but IMHO a decent sized game nonetheless.
Not something for everyone (like Berget is), but maybe it'll be everything for some?

I agree with Panzergraf. I would also like to see smaller game for more dedicated playergroup ("MilSim" in this case) which still has some of the elements which Berget has. Of course it does not to be made by Berget Crew, be on middle winter or even be in Sweden. If there is already this kind of game somewhere in europe which is international friendly, tell us. Borderwar 4 I found to have same kind of problems with huge playergroup as Berget.

Remember that it is not just the weather that is a problem. Not everybody have the possibility to get a couple of days off from work during the late winter.

No s**t.

Why would one coun´t on the people that can´t come? Those number by the billions anyhoo..

If 15 guys show up im happy. Why would i care about the ones who can´t or don´t want to come?
My guess is that this thread is for the ones that are intrested, can and want.. Everything else is dribble. :wank:

AS doesn´t have 2 b a 24hr skirmish for my enjoyment. LARP and SIM with the winterexperience is A-OK for me.
We don´t even have to go all-in during mid-winter with -35 and 2m snow. Feb/March in lapland is fine with -10>-15ish.

If toure scared, stay home. :team:
