I have the VFC SCAR, I haven't been very lucky with it, but others tell great things about it and I did succesfully used it at this years Berget event.
What I really like about the fact that you can mount almost anything on it's rails, fold the stock and with the VFC change it into a CQB model if you want with a shorter barrel.
Sidearm... well anything goes. It depends on your play style. I like my 1911 GBB pistol that allows me to leave my AEG behind and do some bolt swift stuff. Good tactic? I don't know, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but I enjoy it and thats the important part.

One year ago we made some interesiting comparations betwen SCAR models.
JLS , VFC , STAR , DB and CA.
The best for me is VFC.
If you buy VFC model good thing to do is cut extra vire. There is almost 20cm of vire that you do not need so just cut it off because resistance is going to be a lot lower.
You can upgrade it to be really good for a small amount of money. I tried one SCAR that has systema silent piston head and cylinder head, 7mm ball bearings, TM EG1000HT motor ( i use this in all of my guns and it works really good ) and prometheus 6.03/289mm, it was really good gun.
I had DB , JLS and VFC. JLS is a piece of crap. DB is not so bad gun but VFC is really good. I recomend it.

Yes.
I don't like them so it is your choise to buy SCAR.

some of my friends have bought the scar. i think it was the VFC Scar.
anyhow that scar is an good weapon but as bilich said it depends much of
what you like.
the scar takes standard m4/m16 mags and has an good rail system and to
top it of they have one of the best nade launcher out there. Just becouse of construction of the mk13 launcher.
as an airsoft weapon its pretty good.
But i love the Sgg 556 for my personal use.
