Coordinating forces in the field

Post by Storebror » 26 Apr 2019, 10:15

What I always pictured would be great for milsim events would be to have an app like the "blue fox tracker" kind of, where you have one or more gps trackers per squad to inform HQ of positions and to give active commands to troops in the field, with the option to display waypoints and targets etc. Perhaps having all friendly forces visible, or having them visible to HQ but not the individual squads. Maybe I'm just dreaming here, and I know some people dislike the idea of a HUD or anything like it, but given it's used by real military to some extent as well as most squads probably running at least one cell phone for gps I figured I could ask what the thinking is on this topic. I'm guessing battery life and bandwidth would be the biggest issue.

But don't get me wrong I think you can get almost the same idea by actively reporting your position to HQ by radio given that maps are marked with zones or the likes. However. it would be real nice to get a post-game report of troop movements during the game so you could see all the close shaves made by individual squads during the game. For such a purpose a more detailed live view of where everyone is would be really cool.

Just my thoughts, but this will be my first Berget this summer so I don't know if there are any obvious practical issues, I'm just really excited ^_^; Also, I just want to clarify that I cant write apps to do this or anything, just throwing it out there.

Thanks for the replies, I'm on the GFM forces however AceCunow but thanks anyways  I'm gona be bringing my trusty baofeng and hope for the best at least.

Also, sorry about my tardiness in responding. I actually didn't notice my post appearing on the forums until a day ago due to the server lagging out on me when I posted it...seems in game communication might be the least problematic issue 8)
